Ellie
Rice CEIRP Project
I
am working at Marcus Whitman Junior/Senior High School with
Pete Saracino's 7th grade biology class and John Fiori's
10th grade living environment class. In both classes, we
have been focusing on plants, genes and insects. We have
been working with a bunch of cucumber plants which are segregating
for a bitterness trait and thinking about the effects those
genes might have on a predator like the cucumber beetle.
We've also used the plants as a vehicle to apply subjects
as diverse as photosynthesis, genetics and the scientific
method.
