I'm
a senior, majoring in Science of Earth Systems with a concentration
in biogeochemistry, particularly aquatic systems. It is an
interdisciplinary major, which has given me a good background
in many areas of science.
My
research has been focused on silica cycling in Hawaiian watersheds.
We have been looking at plant uptake of silica and the formation
of phytoliths in plants as a source for silica in the ecosystem.
Another interest of mine is looking at the topic of climate
change from scientific, political, and ethical perspectives,
and understanding the interplay from all these arenas.
